Blacksmith Chapter 27

7/8 owed chapters done! Almost caught up!

EDIT: THEY STOLE IT! Okay, yup plugin is going up next chapter no questions asked. Sorry guys… 😦

…yeah, the plagiarism didn’t stop with the last post. I’ve commented on the owner’s site and even messaged them on facebook but they refuse to respond to me. Really I could stop this by putting on a plug-in that prevents people from copy-pasting my posts, but I honestly want to avoid that if possible.

A lot of you guys use quotes from the chapters in ur comments and other stuff, and what if somebody comes along and wants to translate this to another language, or make a pdf of it? They can’t do so (or at least it would be really hard) without copy-paste.

I still haven’t done it yet because of that… I’m posting this chapter, but if later I check that site (Which shall not be named because it would just give them more publicity) and it takes this chapter too, I’m going to start to use the plugin. ‘Cause honestly, what’s the point in working so hard to translate these if others are just going to take them and claim them as their own?

I admit, all my work is based off of another author’s , but using his work in a transformative way while still giving him credit for it is NOT plagiarism. What that site does is, and what’s even sadder is that they’re doing the same thing with a lot of other translations too, as if its the most natural thing in the world…

So yeah you guys, try to always read off of the original translator’s site, it really helps… 🙂

Yeah… I’m a bit depressed….

This chapter is brought to you by Anon-kun. Thanks again for ur support!

Anyways, you can read the chapter here.

PS: I forgot to mention that exams have started in my last post, so… yeah this might affect update speed.

  1. if it truly gets to be too much of a problem then lock out the copy and past functions and talk to the guys that set up NU forum to set up a quote function added to the comment area, that way the copies stay on the site. Wish I could remember how to do it, I’d tell you but it’s been a few years since I’ve messed with web design.

      1. if it’s someone you know good enough to do that, if not see if they can walk you through it. It’s always better to learn to do these things for yourself in the end any way as being able to manipulate websites and pages is a handy skill.

      2. You can create a thread on novelupdate’s forum to ask for someone to help with this. There are some very knowledgeable people there and a wide audience base. All of the readers there will definitely be sympathethic to your cause. Translators are always appreciated. If you’re low on time, then request one of them to help set up the copy protection and temporarily give them admin rights. Otherwise you can ask them to walk you through it and do it yourself instead

  4. I wasn’t aware a person like this existed. I’m honestly shocked to hear this is happening. I don’t understand why someone would and completely understand your disappointment. That plugin may be a necessary evil I’m afraid, it’s a shame, but sometimes one person just won’t let us have nice things.

P.S. Could you message me his site so I can check if he’s stolen any work from my friends or I. If he has, we’ll probably have to look at preventative measures as well.

    1. Umm… do you have an Email? or could you email me so I can make a reply? I couldn’t find yours on ur site (I probably just missed it though >.<) …and unfortunately yes they have, I've seen ur projects there too.

  5. If they want to make pdf or translate it into another language, they just need to pm you. It’s not that hard. They only need to blame the plague(plagiarist).
So, I’m supporting you on setting the plug in.
Well, good luck. Hope this “guy” will stop doing that.

  6. Maybe something like watermark between paragraphs? Put in something and color them with the background color. It could be the address of this website or something like ‘Arrrr! Ye pirate dogs!’ or something else.

  8. i approve of putting that plug-in to stop the plagiarism
as for those who want to translate it to other language
i’m sure they will contact you so why not make a shared cloud storage and put the translation files there and share it to the guys who want to translate it to their language
it would also serve as a back up if something happens to the site

  9. Is it on Wattpad? I just found it. That really sucks, there’s no acknowledgement towards the original translator. Oh well, Let’s start a war!~ Fake~!!

      1. I approve adding that plug-in~ If there are people who wants to translate in other language, why not let them open this site while translating? It’s just the same.

      1. I approve the plug-in, let those ‘Other language translator’ use your site while translating. Let that fake type everything if he dares to.. *devil’s laugh*

      1. I know of three, though the other two are no longer around. The one that’s still active has RLN as an initial. I just checked and this chapter was there.

        1. I tried to comment on that site (rln) to tell his viewers about NU in case they’re not aware of it, but it seems like he chooses what comments would appear on his site. . . that guy . . . he planned out everything. . . I want him to get destroyed! Unfortunately I don’t know how . . .

  10. just use a plug-in and don’t worry too much. many people still know about your hardwork and always waiting your update in this blog (me too!).
thank you for the chapter and good luck for your exam!! 😘

  11. The sad thing is that they left my name on the chapters that they lefted or they wound up cutting it and chapter title out as while.

  12. While I approve of the plug-in and hate that this is happening to you, I’ve yet to see any plug-in like that which actually works. (Short of turning the text into an image or multiple images.)

In fact, I just checked one of the top results’ demo pages (WP-CopyProtect) and it took me about three seconds to circumvent. (Of course, hoping the guy stealing your content is as stupid as he is awful, I’m not going to explain how.)

    1. I was going to leave the same sort of post.

By all means, use the plug-in if you feel it to be necessary. Just keep in mind that plug-ins like that can’t actually stop someone with a bit of knowhow. Don’t be too shocked if you see that they’re still lifting the translation from you. As long as the text exists in the page’s HTML there isn’t much you can actually do.

  13. FYI, Copy&Paste Disable plugins are only a deterrent, they don’t actually prevent people from copying text if they want to. With a non-modified Firefox or Chrome I can easily bypass those blocks using various built-in functions of either browser. Not to mention the add-ons designed to counter the blocks.

  14. You know, as much as I love seeing so many translators whose work I follow in one place, I really hate the reason why they are there. :\ Please use the plug in, If we really want to quote your work we can type just fine. It truly is a shame that the world has a few scumbags that cause trouble for the majority in it. 😦

  15. If it was me I’d just put the plug-in on and ask the readers of the site to boycott it(maybe even ask them to add block it). Might not do much but I’m the lazy kind of spiteful guy.

  16. I’ve tried posting a notification and various other methods as well but it didn’t work. They copied and pasted everything including my name there. =_=; Unfortunately the plugin doesn’t stop what they’re doing either. Another site has been using the plugin to prevent copy and paste but their chapters are being uploaded onto their site the same day they were posted too.
